Welcome to the latest Club update.

At the end of the season, last Saturday's game might well be one where we looked back on the performance and result as one of our better achievements.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen us play better before, but on a very tricky surface and against a team desperate for survival, we dealt with everything that Colliers Wood could throw at us and came away with three points and a clean sheet. After taking all the circumstances into account, I'm not sure it was possible for us to play any better.

In the past, this match would have been one where we would have slipped up, no doubt. It's very easy to look at the League table and think that this would be an easy game and all we have to do is turn up, and if I'm honest, that has happened a few times in previous seasons. Yes we have dropped points this term to Chessington & Hook and Wembley who were both in the bottom three at the time, but they both played very well and we didn't lose the points as a result of any complacency.

That's because in this League these days, you just can't perform at 75% and expect to win any more. There was a time when that might have been possible with some teams at the wrong end of the table, but the standard continues to improve and any team can take points from the ones at the top. It is one of the reasons why I believe South Park's seven point lead is catchable. They face a tough trip to in-form Molesey this Tuesday and fingers crossed, the Moles will do us a favour. Then it will be down to us when we play the return match with Wembley up at Vale Farm on Saturday afternoon.

We have a decent away support these days but a lot of people often don't fancy the trip up to Wembley. However, it is a nice venue with decent facilities and a good playing surface. If you've never been, it is well worth a visit, as with their geographical placing right on the edge of our League's catchment area, it could easily become our last trip there for many years.

Come on you Salts!
