Welcome to the latest Club update.

Remember the 24th September. That was the last time until Saturday that we had met a team in the lower half of the table. Since then, we have faced a very tough fixture schedule which would have been tougher still had it not been for postponements against South Park and Raynes Park Vale.

Under the circumstances, it was nice to see a comfortable result for the first time in a while as we eased to a 4-0 win over Mole Valley SCR. You could be critical and say we should have got more, but aside from the injury to promising youngster Jake Downs it was a perfect day with only one yellow card against us, and seeing as Carl Downs produced one of his best performances of the season, we'll let him off this one!

The win didn't move us up the League table any further as both Windsor and South Park both won as well, but chasing teams dropped points as Hanworth Villa lost at Wembley, while Camberley and Molesey battled out a goalless draw. Although I haven't looked in much detail it appears that we must have played more of the top teams than our rivals, as we seem to have been playing a top six team almost every week!

Of course, just because a team is in the bottom half, doesn't make it a walkover, as Chessington & Hook United and Wembley proved to us, and next up are Colliers Wood United, who gave South Park a scare before bowing out 2-3 on the weekend before last. However, South Park are in Vase action this Saturday, so if we are to put any pressure on them, we must start to close the gap. Weather permitting, that is, as I'm hearing that we may be in for a dose of the white stuff before the weekend arrives.

Before I go, please note that we are now into the Top 5 of our Legends countdown and with people like Pat O'Connell and Adrian Hil at 7 and 6, you know that the top five really did an enormous amount for the club. If you don't know a lot about Fred Chitty (number 5), then please have a look in.

And please keep telling people about this site. Publicity is key for a small site like this, but with plenty of material to keep you occupied, there are worse ways of spending your time, especially if we are all snowed in next weekend!

Come on you Salts!

P.S. Did you know that before Saturday's result, 30th November was the worst day in history for our team, with a record of W1 D1 L10!! We had our solitary win on this day back in 1991 so it's fair to say we were due!
