Welcome to the latest weekly update. Seeing as the weather has led to our two matches being postponed, I thought I'd take this opportunity to advise a sad story.

The original intention of this web site was to provide a full historical record of the club, although it soon became apparent to me that it could do so much more. As a result I have recently added tables and reports pages so you can now see anything that you might need to see on a club website at the click of a button or two.

In addition, in my Editorials you will get my comment on what is going on at the club as we try to raise publicity and funds for a return home to the Borough. Regrettably it is for that "official" reason that the club Committee have chosen not to advertise
www.eefconline.co.uk on their website, or even have the courtesy to send a tweet to their followers publicising a site that advertises their club in such detail. In fact, because they have no editorial control over this website they have chosen to pretend that it doesn't exist, despite many positive comments from those who have seen it, some of which even came from anonymous Committee Members. They could have even used a disclaimer, but chose not to.

Many of you that have looked at this site will know that I have provided historical comment on the club since creating the History Book "Two Legs Not Four" back in 2007 and in the award winning Match Programmes from 2008 up until last February. However, the club's organisation has left much to be desired in recent years, and they would rather that you, the supporter, didn't know some of the things that have been going on, instead preferring to hand-feed you with mundane soundbites from their website to keep you all "happy". They are concerned that by visiting this site, you may find out some of what is going on in the background which would expose the wheels in motion.

You might think that a club facing the circumstances that we do would want as many publicity and fund-raising opportunities as possible, but clearly their preference for secrecy overrides such important matters like raising money, believing somewhat naively that their current pitch square idea is sufficient and that nothing further is required. Maybe they think we can survive with the same small group of people, as they aren't even advertising for extra help, which I believe a well-organised and forward thinking club should be doing. My personal belief is that the more you know about "your" club, the more you will feel attached to it. That theory also holds true in reverse.

As an example, I suggested back in July at the club Annual General Meeting that whilst we are holders of the League Cup, we should take the opportunity to advertise it in an exhibition at Bourne Hall Museum, back in the heart of the Borough. The curator was able to provide assurances about security (as you would expect at a Museum!), but despite this idea being well-received at the meeting with not a single dissenting voice, this has yet to happen. Why? You'll have to ask the club that one. Many hundreds of people visit the Museum each year. An opportunity missed? You bet!

Hopefully this dated attitude will change, but in the meantime I appeal to you to advertise this site to anyone you know. Many former supporters and players do not yet know that we exist here. Please make them aware. If I can encourage ten or twenty of you to restart supporting the club again regularly, we would have one of the top three supporter bases in the division. Not bad for a club without a ground for twenty years!

Please note that there will be no editorial or any updates to the site for just over a week as for the first time in ages I am actually having a break during the football season to watch my second love, the Miami Dolphins American Football team (thanks to my wife for the holiday pass!). However, once I return I will continue to upgrade this site so that it hopefully becomes the one that you will choose to visit first (if it isn't already), and whilst I wouldn't drop to the club's level of pretending "the other site" doesn't exist, I can advise that in the event that anything important actually gets reported over there, I will ensure that it is also placed here soon afterwards. In the meantime, if you want to help your club, please revisit the welcome page that you can reach from the home page as there are many ways listed there.

Come on you Salts!
