Monday 28th October 2013 -

Welcome to the latest weekly update.

With our spare Saturday thanks to Hartley Wintney's FA Cup progress, there was an opportunity for some of the clubs around us at the top to play catch up. With a minute left until half time the scores looked good as I perused my Twitter messages. Windsor were drawing with Frimley, Hanworth and South Park were losing and Raynes Park and Molesey were scoreless. By the end of the day Windsor and most importantly South Park had turned things around, so we sit in second place again, but others dropped points so it wasn't all bad!

Our last game was against Southern Leaguers Chertsey Town on Tuesday. It seems a bit odd calling them that as we met so often in both Isthmian and Combined Counties encounters. Both sides changed a few personnel and we thoroughly deserved our first win over oppositon from that League since 2002, even if it was only 1-0, as we were worthy of more.

We "travel" to Chipstead for the next round, and ironically it is they who we meet on Tuesday, storm permitting, in the Southern Combination Cup. We will be the designated home team for that tie, and here's hoping we have more success in those matchups than we did against Whyteleafe, who we've also played twice in knockout competition but with no success.

Following that, we meet Hanworth Villa at the Ranch next Saturday. In recent years they have been a very difficult team to play against, although we have a fairly good record there, adn onyl two goals in injury time in April, turning a 2-1 lead into a 3-2 defeat stopped us from having four wins from four visits. Let's hope we can keep the run going.

Then on the horizon is the Tuesday night trip to South Park in the League Cup on November 5th. More on that next week!

Come on you Salts!
