Welcome to the latest Club update.

Although we lost 3-0 at Westfield on Saturday, we had already achieved our late season objective of third place with a 3-1 win at Raynes Park Vale on Tuesday, so there was no harm done in that respect. We now have a First Round F.A. Vase to look forward to next season, and let's be honest, we're due a bit of a run!

Although a season that promised much not that long ago, has petered out somewhat, you have to look at the season as a whole, and for what it's worth, it has been fairly entertaining from where I've been standing.

So what happens now? Well, as anyone previously involved with the Committee at Epsom & Ewell will tell you, it doesn't stop. There might be a couple of weeks off for some, and certainly the players deserve a rest, but there is still much to do around the club to prepare for next term.

What can we the supporters do though? The first thing they can do is to attend the end of season Presentation Evening. There have been some mumbles that the venue isn't as grand as last seasons venue of Epsom Downs, but our people have had to consider the expenses involved with such a venture and have had to cut costs in many areas. If the budget is to remain, as the players would surely wish, then other venues have to be used and for a club that used Chipstead's Clubhouse for its Christmas party, I make the Stoneleigh Inn an upgrade on location alone, being right next to the station. Whilst the supporters should attend, the players should put aside any mumbles and join the club in celebrating our best League finish since 1981. I hope they all attend.

Beyond that there will be an A.G.M. usually in late June but this will be advertised here as soon as I know. Then we have pre-season friendlies commencing before even the World Cup has finished with a League opening date on 2nd August this term, right in the middle of the cricket season!

What else could you do? Simple! Please continue to visit this website. We will continue to produce articles about the club on a regular basis. The Memorable Matches countdown is now into the Top 20, and I will be doing a seasonal review in a few days. In addition, there will be two other series, the first is a Programme Review of all the Combined Counties League clubs which I hope to produce before the Combined Counties League and Soccer Club Swap Shop release their awards. The second is the Wall of Fame, which will commemmorate all 35 of our players who have reached 200 appearances for the club in detail.

I will finish by saying thank you to all who have visited and supported the Historical web site since its opening on September 9th. We already have twice the number of hits of the official site and regardless of whether or not it is ever acknowledged by the club, I hope you have enjoyed the articles on YOUR club. I already have a few ideas for next season, and with luck the club might come aboard with them and will then benefit as a result.

Have a great break!

Come on you Salts!
