Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. For those who are new to this site, welcome! My name is Richard Lambert and I am the Webmaster at: www.eefconline.co.uk.

I haven't put one of these Editorials out for a while, but regrettably recent events have forced me into this, and I feel that it is necessary to put my side of the story over, as I am aware of some disinformation that has been sent out in attempts to discredit me and the work I have done for this club over the last four decades.

I have been a supporter for over forty years and a Committee member for around fifteen of those. I am the Club Historian and for the previous eight years up to July 2021, I was the club's Media Officer and Programme Editor, winning fourteen programme awards over the last ten years, and authored the Club's long sold out history book, Two Legs Not Four. Over that time I have built up the club Twitter site and created Facebook and Youtube sites alongside it, as I believed that the club needed its profile raised as we continue our attempts to get a ground back within the Borough of Epsom & Ewell. I love this club and retain a massive amount of passion and energy for it, as our supporters and indeed many of our former players will know. Along with my 13 year old son Nathan, we rarely miss a Salts game anywhere and I have raised much money for the club over the years dating back to the early eighties by way of a number of things that I will not bore you all with here.

During the course of this season I, like many other supporters, have become extremely disappointed with the information forthcoming from the club. It has been extremely sporadic, littered with errors and lacking in content, with some relevant items not being mentioned at all. In summary, not the sort of content that should be expected from a club of our status.

I was aware that this might happen and indeed it was one of the reasons why I stepped down last summer. However, to protect the integrity of the Twitter site in case it deteriorated, I retained the moderation of the Club's Twitter and Facebook accounts with a promise to allow the club to tweet what they needed to, but advising that should information slip below the standards expected by our great and long-serving supporters, that I would step in. This agreement continued until last Monday morning at 4.30am, when without warning the club Twitter site was maliciously hacked and I was locked out of it.

The activity was reported to the Twitter people and they have now restored the site back to my control. I have been advised by them of the identity of the person who hacked the site, to take legal advice over criminal action against them should I wish and also not to allow any third party access in future.

So as from today the Twitter site is able to return to operation, but in view of the advice it will now be administered once again by myself and back in a format that supporters will hopefully prefer. Gone are the constant emojis, spelling mistakes and general dumbing down; instead the site will concentrate on honest and unfiltered information, with a bit of history and stats thrown in, as this is what true supporters really want.

There is so much more that I could say, but for now I'll hold fire. In the meantime people need to remember this simple fact. Our supporters are the most important part of this club and are bigger than any person. I've known many of them for forty years. They are loyal, generous and patient and are our future. They deserve to know what is going on and I believe that our club has forgotten this. The @EEFCOfficial Twitter site will never do that.

Come on you Salts!
