25th April 2016

Welcome to the latest Club update.

As the season reaches its end, our boys could be almost forgiven for turning in a below performance, following our devastating defeat to Camberley. However, this didn't happen and we produced another great win at Rectory Meadow against a Hanworth Villa team that will finish in the top seven this season.

Although the final score of 3-2 makes it look like a close call, which admittedly it was at the end, the football produced in the first 70 minutes of the match was extremely good and for us to be 3-0 up was the very least we deserved by that point.

Obviously Saturday's win cannot be mentioned without reference to Kyle Hough's 200th goal for the club. His achievement is extremely significant, becoming only the third player in over 90 years of club history to reach this mark after legends Reg Marlow and Tommy Tuite. Kyle's name will remain high up in the record books for as long as this club remains in existence.

We host Ashford Town (Mx) on Saturday and it is another tough match. As things stand Ashford can still catch Camberley as they sit on level points and with a similar goal difference. However, Camberley hold a game in hand on Ashford so they definitely have the edge, even if it is at Champions elect Hartley Wintney on Monday. Had we defeated Camberley last week, we would have gone into these matches with hope still, but we must now look to next season and feel very happy about the squad we currently have assembled here. If we were able to keep our strongest eleven on the field for all of next season then who knows what we could achieve on the field in 2016/17, and I'm not just talking about the League, as we are certainly due some luck in the Cups too!

So for the last time this season we make the journey to High Road where we will hopefully witness a cracking match. There will also be a massive programme available which will be either 84 or 88 pages in size, depending on a couple of articles I am still waiting on. It should take you quite a while to read it, but there is plenty of interest there, whether you like the history, the stats, the match reports or even just the pictures, with a fair bit in there for our opponents too.

Then on Monday at 11.30 our final match kicks off at Chalky Lane as we visit Chessington & Hook United. They have obviously struggled with their pitch this season and many of their recent matches have changed venue, so please keep checking the website in case the venue is moved for this one. Following that we are all back to The Green Man in Ewell for the Presentation which kicks off at 3pm. Food will be provided and tickets are available for £5 if you want to come along and celebrate what has been a really great year. Also don't forget to fill in a Player of the Year form if you haven't already, while it is also the final chance this season to win £208 through the Salts Super Six Predictor. So many reasons to come along and follow the Salts!

Come on you Salts!
