Welcome to the latest Club update.

The quirks of the fixture list ensured that this week we would visit two teams less than three miles apart, yet at opposite ends of the table in League leading South Park and bottom of the table Horley Town. After recording wins against both I have to say that I am surprised that eithher are in their current position.

For some reason South Park just don't produce against us, and for the second time this year we played them off the park on their own pitch; winning 2-0 but it could have been more. We know they are a good side and their wins on Thursday and Saturday ensure that they sit 12 poiints clear of us and the League table doesn't lie at this stage of the season, so we have to maybe ask ourselves why it is that we are not closer to them.

Part of the answer came on Saturday when we faced a committed and determined Horley team. Against teams like this we often struggle to put a stamp on the game and so they become tight, nervy affairs. After half an hour I felt this might be one of those days, especially when the home side started to waste time! However, two goals before half time gave us a cushion and although we conceded our first goal in three matches midway through the second half, a third goal soon after calmed any concerns.

I should also at this point welcome two new players. In the case of Sam Robinson he was with us two seasons back and even his brother Matt played for us last season. He has rejoined, I am informed from Redhill and will boost our midfield. Carlton Murray-Price has joined us from Chipstead and has opened up with four goals in three games. He is a strong lad and his presence will help us enormously as we continue to chase success on three fronts.

Starting Tuesday when we make the trip to Wembley F.C. for our League Cup Quarter Final. The winners would have a home tie with the unbeaten Spelthorne Sports, a challenge that already faces us in the Southern Combination Cup Semi-Final. We'll deal with them in more detail should we get past Wembley, a team that gave us a tough game there in December and also beat us at Chipstead in September.

On paper we will be slight favourites and it always suprises me when Managers try almost any ruse to avoid being seen in this light. Jose Mourinho has of course recently broken with conventional logic by saying that points in the bag are less important than games in hand. I suppose if you had 15 in hand like Guernsey did last season he may have a point, but the sooner you can adjust to being favourites the better you can cope with it in my experience. In my chosen sport of 8 ball pool I won some titles early and had a target on my back for around fifteen years but you get used to it because the pressures that you put on yourself are far greater than the fact someone might have a laugh at your expense because you were favourites and blew it. These people are not important. If you have faith in your ability, you will succeed.

I used the word last week. The word is "Believe!" Anything is possible and we could stil have three trophies by the end of the season.

Come on you Salts!
