Welcome to the latest Club update.

On the field

A 2-1 defeat to Windsor on Saturday spelt the end of our unbeaten away League record. However, we had a great start to the match with an early goal and we were well on top in midfield during those early stages, so at half time you couldn't see it coming. By the end though, nobody could really argue that the better team had won as they had a lot more of the play in midfield and turned the game around, much as they had in the opening fixture of the season, but this time there was no late repriece for our boys.

Maybe on another day we would have held on to our lead, or at the very least secured a draw, but in a season where we are up against three other excellent teams, these defeats are harder to recover from as no one else seems to be dropping points. Hopefully we'll get the chance to play catch up on Tuesday at AFC Hayes but the forecast is ominous and with Saturday's match being rearranged due to Hartley Wintney's rather exciting F.A. Vase match at home to Hereford FC, it is likely we will have to wait until Redhill visit on Tuesday week 2nd February as our season continues to be interrupted.

Off the field

Following the Windsor match we held a Categories Quiz evening at the Epsom Common Working Mens Club and over 30 of you atttended, raising over £300 for the club. It was great to see the players really getting into the swing of things and congratulations go to the winning team, which comprised Rob Hendry, Jimmy Hendry, Michael Eacott, Matt Ferdinando and Craig Hastings. Craig in particular held his nerve well in the final against Rhys North's team and it made for some entertaining viewing. Thanks to all who took part.

Come on you Salts!
