Welcome to the latest Club update.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. At Epsom we nearly received a great present of three points from one of our closest rivals, Horley Town, although had to settle for a point in the end.

Our boys were second best in the opening forty five minutes and even conceded a very rare first half goal. The second half was much improved and Horley then had a player sent off just after the hour mark for kicking Tom Neale. From this point we were well on top and took the lead with two penalties from Kyle Hough. The first for handball was also given by the Assistant who had a much better view of it than we did and the second was for a reckless challenge on Agi Panayiotou who had broken through and was threatening to dance through their defence until being unceremoniously upended!

An unfortunate penalty conceded four minutes from time ensured we were unable to take all three points from the game and it is always disappointing to lose a lead when you have an advantage in numbers. The decision looked harsh from where I was but we didn't help ourselves by clearing the ball when we had the chance.

In the end it was maybe a point gained as leaders Hartley Wintney lost at Camberley and whilst this means that both the Krooners and Ashford Town have now dropped less points than us, we are well placed and have already travelled to three of the other big four teams and remain undefeated on our League travels. When you realise that we were missing James Taylor, Sam Currie, Matt Ferdinando and Daryl Cooper-Smith from our line up, you realise that we can get stronger still, while Hartley and Camberley both remain in the F.A. Vase which will surely test their squads, especially if there is a cold snap and we all have to play catch up. That might suit us a lot.

We have over the Christmas period been advised that Daryl's suspension for his sending off and subsequent misconduct charge has been determined as 82 days. Fortunately he has already served a month of that although he will not be available until the end of February. How it is that the Surrey F.A. could come up with an arbitrary figure that isn't even an equal number of weeks, makes a mockery of their disciplinary processes. Additionally, why suspend anyone for a number of days? If we get two months of snow now he may not miss any more games, while some clubs will obviously play more games than others at this time of the year due to postponements, so the punishment isn't fair.

Regrettably, we are unable to appeal the decision as it may be deemed frivolous and a ban may be extended, but we will be taking this matter further to try and ensure that other clubs do not have to suffer these sort of draconian, middle-age punishments any more.

On Saturday we bring in the New Year with a home league match against Redhill. Why not come along and support the lads as they are playing really quite well right now!

Come on you Salts!
