Welcome to the latest Club update.

Another week and another win as we defeated Sutton Common Rovers by three goals to one on Saturday. Yet again we scored with some stunning strikes and just about had enough to see off the opposition, who it should be remembered are in decent form themselves, also remaining in the F.A. Vase.

This was achieved despite a car accident the evening before the game that resulted in our dangerous right winger Matt Ferdinando missing the game, and Tom Neale starting on the bench, although he showed no ill-effects when he came on and scored a scorching thirty yarder into the top corner that wasn't even the best goal of the match, following Reisse Griffin's spectacular volley at full stretch to open the scoring and register his first goal for the club in some style. Ferdy suffered no long term injuries and will hopefully be available for our next match.

So at the half way stage in the season we remain in third place, having the longest current unbeaten run in the division at ten games, and with just one loss in the league, at home to Chertsey Town way back in October. This is our best league record since the 1974/75 season when we lost just the one league match all season, which was a 26 game season. If we can keep the performances coming, it will continue to put pressure on the teams above us.

Of course, it's easy to say this, and quite another to do it. Next up for the Salts is a tough trip to Horley Town on the Bank Holiday Monday. We went there in good form last season but still lost 1-0 in a competitive hard-fought match. However, we have been to Hartley Wintney and Ashford already this season and remain unbeaten on our travels, so we just have to keep doing what we do so well at the moment, which is defend solidly and take the chances that come our way. It is a very big day for fixtures as there are other big matches at the top of the table. Hartley travel to Camberley while Ashford host Windsor. Why not come along to see how we get on?

A quick update on the Cove situation. The League has made the decision that the postponed match will be rescheduled for the New Year. We respect the League's decision and look forward to welcoming Cove later in the season.

All that remains to be said is to wish every Epsom & Ewell player and supporter a Happy Christmas and let's hope that 2016 brings us a lot of what we are hoping for. I have a wish list of a League title, a League Cup and a new ground, but maybe that's because I've started the Christmas celebrations early!!

Next week's bulletin will be released on Tuesday for obvious reasons.

Come on you Salts!
