Welcome to the latest Club update.

We have scored ten goals over an eight day span, including three more on Saturday as we came away from a tricky looking trip to Wibbandune with a 3-0 win.

Ok, I'm using a bit of journalistic licence as five of those ten were against Hanworth Villa, who were covered in last week's review, but I'd take five goals every week and that's what we've been doing recently.

Our week started in controversial circumstances as we drew 2-2 at Bedfont Sports. I won't go into detail as there is enough contained in the match report, but it's fair to say that the players felt a tiny bit hard done by to say the least!

Maybe as a result of that game we were a bit slow out of our blocks on Saturday and we had some defending to do, especially after picking up an early injury to James Taylor, but Alex McKay dropped back and Carl Downs came on for his first game since returning and we gradually got on top, running away with it in the second half in the end against a team that had moved up to sixth place by the time of the game, so this was another fine achievement.

We are now third in the table but all the other teams around us won, so right now the top five are running away from the rest. People often say that we should have playoffs in this league as it would kill the number of dead matches towards the end of the season but this year would have made no difference to tha argument as the league season is already over for the other 17 teams. One or two of the clubs at the top may fall away, but I can't believe that all five could do it and the gap is just too great even at this stage.

Here's an interesting stat for you. Following Hartley Wintney's unexpected 2-3 defeat to Badshot Lea, every team in our division has now lost a home game, yet three teams; ourselves, Hartley and Camberley remain unbeaten away from home as we approach the halfway stage of the season!

This Tuesday we have no midweek match and our next outing is at home to Guildford City on Saturday. Three days later we host Cove and then face matches against Badshot Lea and Sutton Common Rovers before our Christmas meeting with Horley at The New Defence. These are exciting times to be a supporter, so why not come down and cheer us on?

Come on you Salts!
