Welcome to the latest Club update.

Technically we had a mixed week with one win and one loss but trust me, that win was twenty times more important than the loss!

I will start with our 6-1 loss to a very good Dorking Wanderers side in the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday. Whilst it was a heavy loss they played very well and showed us the sort of standard we would have to reach if we were to gain promotion this year.

We then travelled to table topping Ashford Town on the Saturday, aware that our unbeaten League run had ended seven days previously against Chertsey and eager to bounce back. And we produced a great performance to do just that, winning there for the second time this calendar year by three goals to two.

Whilst on paper it looks like a close win, we got off to a flyer and were 3-0 up after just 17 minutes before being hauled back rapidly. To our players huge credit, they weathered the storm and by the end Ashford were totally out of ideas. In fact, when looking at my notes from the game it was apparent that big Mike didn't really have that much to do and we probably should have taken one or more of our frequent chances. Obviously by that time we were missing the injured Kyle Hough and it is to be hoped that he recovers quickly from his knee injury.

We now have a fortnight off which will give our players time to recharge their batteries before hosting Chessington & Hook United. We follow this with a trip to Knaphill before we face the title favourites Hartley Wintney but these are all a little while off and we will cover these in more detail nearer the time.

As a result there will be no editorial next Monday.

Come on you Salts!
