Welcome to the latest Club update.

We started off this past seven days with a 2-1 win over our landlords Chipstead to retain the Dave Wilson Trophy for the first time.

It was our third ever win in the nine contests that have run and we were well worth our win, despite conceding just on half time. Goals from Reisse Griffin and Kyle Hough in the second half enabled Sam Currie to lift the Trophy once again.

Then we were into the League action and we had a tough opening fixture against Windsor who were top five last year. We led just before half time with a great volley from new boy Rob Hendrie, whose strike of a dipping Sam Currie cross crept into the far corner via the keeper's right hand post.

However, in a turnaround reminiscent of the Dave Wilson Trophy match, we found ourselves trailing just seven minutes into the second half before a late penalty enabled us to secure a deserved point. It was a contentious decision with the award being accompanied by a red card for the visiting keeper but I go into more detail on that in the match report.

We now face two very important fixtures. We travel to Redhill for the first time since New Year's Day 1977 for a League match that is equally important to them, having lost 5-0 at Hartley Wintney on the opening day of the season before hosting Erith & Belvedere in the Emirates F.A. Cup on Sunday afternoon. The prize money associated with the competition make this a pivotal part of every Step Five club's season and with the added incentive of a home tie with local rivals Carshalton Athletic, this is arguably the biggest match we have played since the Vase tie at Long Buckby back in January 2010. Still, we can't think about that yet as we have to deal with Redhill first!

Why not come along and see how we get on? See you there?

Come on you Salts!
