13th July 2015

Welcome to the latest Club update which now reverts to a weekly basis again.

On the field We have had our first two friendlies of the season, both at Surbiton Town FC and started with a 2-2 draw against Banstead Athletic before defeating Sussex League team Broadbridge Heath by two goals to nil. I thought we were the better side in both matches, although only just.

Pre-season training continues at Epsom College this Tuesday with a 7pm start, so if you are interested in joining there is still time. Please note that the venue has requested that no blades are to be worn.

Interest now turns to our friendly against Hoddesdon Town at Surbiton Town on Saturday. It will be just over forty years since the teams last met, although it was of course at Wembley Stadium in the F.A. Vase Final. Although this match doesn't carry anywhere near the same significance, it will evoke old memories of the last meeting and we are grateful to our opponents for making the long journey around the M25. Kick off is at 3pm and entry is free. Surbiton has a nice bar but no food with exception of bar snacks, crisps etc. so you may want to eat before you go!

Off the field Here is another reminder that our Annual General Meeting is to be held on Sunday 26th July at 8pm at the Epsom Common Working Mens Club. All can attend, but only members can vote and it would be good to see many of you there. The venue is in Epsom, after all!

League fixtures will also be released on that date, according to our League Secretary Alan Constable, although Alan usually gets them released a day or two earlier than his advice date. Once we know them, we'll let you know; here, on Twitter and on our shortly to be advised Facebook site!

Finally, for those who do follow us on Twitter, we have just been followed by a former member of our 1975 F.A.Vase team, who also went on to have much success at Millwall amongst other clubs, Phil Walker. He is new to Twitter and one of the first accounts he chose to follow was our one. Why not follow him at: @PhilWalkerFans

That's all for now, and don't forget to check in next Monday for more information!

Come on you Salts!
