Welcome to the latest Club update.

At half time of our match on Tuesday evening against Hartley Wintney things looked really grim.

We faced Hartley Wintney and had got off to a good start, but with a strong wind at our backs we turned around 2-1 down and with Kyle Hough absent and James Cottee suspended we could have easily thrown in the towel. However, two goals from Mark Jarman, one from Karl Douglin and a vastly superior second half performance got us out of a hole with a 4-2 win and with all our other rivals failing to play, the gap between first and fourth place is down to five points.

Another tough game faces us tomorrow as we host fellow top four side Windsor. Not a lot of people are aware that we have already won at all three of the other top four sides this season (South Park was a cup match) so it's fair to say that we should have an advantage as all of them have to visit us before season's end. However, we do have a better record away from home, so it's time to start redressing the balance, starting tomorrow, weather permitting, of course!

We now have a full set of midweek matches all the way up to mid-April, assuming that we can get through the next round of the League Cup, and with potentially two more matches in the Southern Combination Cup, and almost certainly further postponements, it won't be long before we'll be playing on Thursdays too. However, it is an exciting time for the club, and you would think that everyone would want to be a part of it. However, I was wrong, as Kyle Hough has departed the Salts to play for Horley Town.

I'm not party to any other reason except that the travel issues were a problem, and with a wife and two children, devoted supporters sometimes have to accept that it is after all, only a game. Although the timing is unfortunate for us, I'm sure that Lyndon will have already decided whether we need another striker to replace him, or whether he should strengthen in other areas. In the meantime, I'd like to thank Kyle for his contribution over the last seven years; it should be remembered that he is currently the fourth most successful goal scorer in the entire club's history, and of course our record penalty taker too. Thanks for the memories Kyle, and please don't play well against us on 15th March when we travel to Horley!

It is a pity that in their article, the club's "official" site has managed to get his stats wrong, so I shall correct them here. For the record, Kyle has made 266 appearances and scored 137 goals. This season he has played 30 times, scoring on 21 occasions. For further details on Kyle, he is featured in our 50 Epsom Legends countdown which is available in the previous articles section.

One final note this week. There are some very rare Epsom programmes on eBay at present. Many of them have been submitted by myself in an attempt to raise some funds for a little bit of club merchandise that I hope you'll all be interested in, so please have a little look when you get a minute.

Come on you Salts!
