23rd March 2015

Welcome to the latest Club update.

I can proudly report that the Salts currently sit on top of the six game form table, following their fairly comprehensive 3-0 victory over Badshot Lea at High Road on Saturday! This also means that since 2015 has started we have recorded victories against the three teams that had excellent records against us; Ashford Town, Chertsey and now the Baggies.

Despite a slow start to each half we began to take control and if it wasn't for their captain and centre half Thumwood, the damage would have been greater against a visiting side that appeared strangely disinterested by the end of the match.

On a personal note I would like to thank our Management team for allowing me to "tag along" on Saturday. It provided an interesting insight on what goes on inside the dressing room, which after 34 years watching the Salts, I realised I had never witnessed. An article on my experience will follow in our final programme of the year on 18th April.

Of course I can't mention the result without referring to our first home hat trick in over six years, and it was maybe fitting that it was scored by Kyle Hough who is in blistering form right now with ten goals in his last seven matches. Whisper it quietly but I think he is getting even better and at the age of 27 I just hope we can hold onto him for many seasons to come.

We had another significant achievement on Saturday when Tony Ferdinando, father of our midfielder Matt, won the Salts Super Six Predictor and the jackpot of £361 into the bargain! We will start again this Tuesday, although of course the prize reverts to £50 now. Still worth £2 of anyone's money though!

On Tuesday we face Westfield in a home match that was rearranged after the snow wouldn't clear back on 31st January. They are also in good form, but we certainly owe them one after our 4-0 defeat at Woking Park back in September. Following that we have another rearrangement as we travel to Guildford City on Saturday. Both clubs happened to have the Saturday spare so it made sense to slot the fixture in. Although both clubs are in the lower reaches of the table they are both playing well and so we will need to be at our best for these matches. Fortunately we are close to our best right now so I am confident. Why not come over and watch?

Come on you Salts!
