Welcome to the latest Club update.

What a difference a week makes! Just seven days after being heavily beaten by Windsor we faced, what on paper appeared to be a batter team in Ashford Town on their own patch, yet won 3-1 and were good value for it by the end of the game.

Yes they had a man sent off, but most neutrals might agree that we deserved a break after four sending offs in four consecutive matches of our own! We worked hard and were fully committed to the cause, despite the knowledge that we only had our Manager and Assistant Matt Smith on the bench. As it turned out Smith had to make his first appearance of the season right near the end while Glyn waited nervously! There's no such thing as retired at this club, Smudger!

It doesn't get any easier as we face a tough trip to Molesey in the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday before hosting another side in good form, Farnham Town on Saturday. I say they are in good form although they suffered a blip on Saturday when being beaten 7-0 at home by Badshot Lea on Saturday. However, the Baggies haven't even conceded a goal since Kyle Hough put two penalties past them back on the 13th December and have scored 18 goals since then, so it was no real disgrace for Farnham and I'm sure they will be tough opponents when we meet.

The draw for the League Cup Quarter Finals is being made tonight and we will bring you news as soon as we know it. Some very good sides remain, although some like Ashford, Molesey and Spelthorne have tumbled. However, we could be drawn against Windsor, Colliers Wood, Badshot Lea or Camberley Town, all of whom have beaten us this season, while the others have not played their third round ties yet but comprise Westfield or Cove, Farnham Town or Mole Valley SCR, and Worcester Park or Banstead Athletic, both flying high in the division below us. All in all, whichever way you look at it, this will be a tough tie, although we should hopefully be suspension free by the time the match is due, assuming no further indiscretions!

Finally, just to repeat the quick update on the Salts Super Six Predictor competition as we had no winners over the Christmas period and the jackpot is now up to £157. This will be active for Saturday when we host Farnham Town so why not have a go or two!

Come on you Salts!
