Welcome to the latest Club update.

On the field The Salts go into the Christmas break in good heart, following a morale boosting 4-3 home win over Spelthorne Sports on Tuesday evening.

It was a match we thoroughly deserved to win, although we made it hard for ourselves after leading 2-0 early in the second half when we suffered our third red card in three games; this time for Alex McGregor. The visitors pulled a goal back almost immediately, but a Matt Ferdinando strike from a wide angle into the far top corner restored our two goal lead with 17 minutes remaining. We somehow allowed Spelthorne to draw level with under ten minutes left but Ferdinando scored a clever winner three minutes from time when he realised that he wasn't going to reach a loose back pass first, so instead blocked the defensive clearance straight into the net!

Suspensions will hurt us in the near future and with the release of Sean White recently the club has moved to sign two new players who will be announced shortly, one of whom requires international clearance following a spell in Cyprus!

This is important as we have been a bit light on the player front and with some big matches against more of the top teams to come shortly, we will need all hands on deck, so to speak. Our next match is the local derby at Raynes Park Vale on Saturday. This is followed in the New Year with matches against Windsor, Ashford Town and then a Surrey Cup tie at Molesey. No one said it had to be easy!

Off the field The Salts Super Six Prediction Competition had no winners this weekend, although three people got four of the six results correct. The killer was the Aston Villa draw with Manchester United which single handedly killed off 19 of the 20 tickets sold! The jackpot now rises to £120 and the next set of matches will come from the F.A. Cup Third Round ties on Saturday 3rd January.

All that remains to be said is for the club to wish all of their supporters a happy Christmas and hope to see you all in number to cheer the lads on at Raynes Park on Saturday!

Come on you Salts!
