8th December 2014

Welcome to the latest Club update.

The Salts had a good week, winning their only match against higher ranked opposition and then having a Saturday off to be refreshed for the upcoming League Cup tie with Frimley Green.

On Tuesday we hosted Camberley Town and won 1-0. Now, this was a good enough result on its own, as a low Alex McGregor strike clinched an away tie at Molesey in the last 16 of the Surrey Senior Cup, but it also came on December 2nd, our greatest day in history, results-wise.

Technically, history should have no bearing whatsoever on the current result but it has to be said that with a record on that day of W9 D1 L1 it is hard to ignore the co-incidence. Either that, or there's not much to write about this week!

For those who are interested in stats like this, there is a day analysis within the Historical Section of the website.

Saturday was a clear day due to Hanworth Villa's Vase match, so we go into our League Cup tie at Frimley Green fresh and rested. Frimley have lost their last six League games, but edged Spelthorne Sports out in the previous round and will be up for this game as it will give them a break from the League problems they face. Throw in a couple of suspensions for us, who I won't name here in case the opposition are reading, and this could be a tricky banana skin. We then travel to in form Badshot Lea at Ash United's ground on Saturday, and it must also be said we have an atrocious recent record against our opponents with one win in our last ten meetings.

Can we reach the Quarter-Finals of the League Cup for the third year in a row, following our defeat at Wembley last season and of course our win in 2012/13? I'm sure we can, so why not wander down to Frimley Recreation Ground to find out and support your club. Let's do this chaps!

Come on you Salts!
