Welcome to the latest Club update.

As we look back on 2013, it has been quite a year on the field of play.

As I write, the 5-3 win over Horley Town has ensured that we end the year on another winning run of League matches, just as we started it. We entered 2013 with four straight wins and extended it to a Club Record of 12, while currently we sit on five, and that would have been eight, had it not been for two very late equalisers against Raynes Park Vale and Hanworth Villa.

Last year though, we had to deal with a poor start, so our winning run only made up the early ground we had lost. This year we were able to count on yet another winning League streak of eight games to open our 2013/14 season, and so we are bang in contention for the title along with three other very good sides.

Of course, nothing is won by Christmas, and January presents us with another tough looking set of fixtures. We travel to League leaders South Park on Saturday, but even if we get through that, we then face Farnham Town (the last team to beat us in the League), Raynes Park Vale and in form Westfield before returning to South Park where we continue our defence of the League Cup. If we have closed the five point deficit on South Park after that little lot, I reckon we'll be favourites.

But this is the sort of run that as a player you would want to face. It's much more interesting to have meaningful games than dull, midtable ones, as many of our League rivals now face until the end of the season.

It looks like it should be a very interesting January for players and supporters alike.

Come on you Salts!
