Welcome to the latest Club update.

There is little to report this week with exception of two League defeats and the departure of Karl Douglin to Croydon.

Whilst the defeat to Raynes Park was narrow and decided by a freak deflection, our performance against Hartley Wintney was not so good and only Michael Eacott prevented the score against us from being heavier.

That said, we just have to go back two seasons when a promising goalless draw at pre-season favourites Windsor was followed by defeats to Badshot Lea and then a 4-0 home shocker against Bedfont Sports. We recovered well enough that season to register club records for consecutive League wins and won the League Cup, so it is important not to get too carried away at this early stage of the season.

Replacing Karl will be tough but players come and players go and we have to accept that in the same way as we'd have to if he'd suffered a long term injury and find a way to cope. Our Management team have been around long enough and I'm sure we'll be able to manage. In the meantime, it is probably just as well that we have a spare midweek, leaving us all to concentrate on the F.A. Cup tie at Hassocks on Saturday.

They also had a disappointing result to open their season with a 2-1 home defeat to Pagham and I'm sure they will be watched this midweek when they travel to Shoreham for a League match. With luck, we'll be in a much better place this time next week. Here's hoping!

Come on you Salts!
