14th July 2014

Welcome to the latest Club update.

We are back to weekly editions again now and the first thing to report is that we have had two pre-season friendlies.

In the first, we met Dorking over at the Wimbledon Common extensions, near Colliers Wood FC on Tuesday 8th July and recorded a comfortable 6-2 win. We followed that with a less convincing performance, drawing 2-2 with Farleigh Rovers, but the team was changed from one match to the next and ultimately the performances are far more relevant than the actual results at this stage of the season.

I will not provide a large update on player movements except to advise that there appears to have been a fairly significant turnover, when compared to recent seasons anyway. Of course some players may yet return, such is the flexible nature of things at this time. Some of the new faces have certainly looked impressive though and with the return of Kyle Hough from Horley and now looking to play in his preferred centre forward role, we should be able to keep finding the net.

It is my intention to keep you all informed every week with what is going on at the club. Certainly from conversations I have had already this season there is a great deal of optimism regarding our efforts to find a new ground. I know I've said this before on many occasions but by the end of the season we really should know whether we have a long term future and where it should be.

For now though we have three things on the horizon.

1) We play Walton Casuals on Saturday at Beare Green Playing Fields, which is just off the A24 before you get to the big roundabout South of Beare Green. We also meet St Francis Rangers next Tuesday and once I have confirmation of a venue I'll advise it here.

2) The Club Annual General Meeting is on Sunday 20th July at 8pm, with the usual venue of the Epsom Common Working.Men's Club at Stamford Green. If you have an interest in what is happening at the club, this is where you'll find out first hand. Supporters are welcome to attend but you have to be a Club Member to actually vote.

3) In the next couple of days we hope to know our opening couple of League matches with a full list projected to be available on 23rd July.

So, plenty to be going on with for now and it won't be long before 2nd August when we kick off our competitive season.

Come on you Salts!
